ABOUT US

Keith Drewes Excavating LLC is a local,  family owned excavating contractor that has been serving the area since 2000. We are the 3rd generation of excavating contractors with over 45 years of experience in the dirt business. We believe in providing quality service while operating with integrity. 

 

From the onset of every new project, clients become aware very quickly that Keith Drewes Excavating sets itself apart from other excavating companies. "I treat my customers the way I would like to be treated, with dignity and respect. We listen and let you know the best way to set it up and ensure that you get what you want and that it will last with the proper drainage and compaction."

History article about 1st generation excavator

Generation 1 was our grandpa, Hjalmer"Swede" Brolin of Brolin Excavating. In these photos he is using an old fashioned drag line from the 1950's. He did a lot of development work in the Detroit Lakes area. He used to walk this machine out and dig out the sandbar between Little & Big Detroit Lakes so that boats could travel between the two lakes.

The second generation was with our father, Clarence "Butch" Drewes of Clarence Drewes Construction. He started small then hired some of his brothers and his boys (Keith & Dion)  to help in his growing business. He worked throughout Minnesota building interstates, airports, and building county and township and worked for many area farmers. He sold the business in the 80's and those working for him went elsewhere. 

 

TESTIMONIAL

Keith Drewes is one of my heros!  Over 20 years ago, Keith made the pad for my pole building.  It was essentially a beautiful, unbuildable spot.  Keith brought in the materials to make a good flat spot for the building.  He was amazing.  My Dad was a builder for over 30 years.  He couldn’t say enough about how impressed he was with Keith and his work.  Over 20 years and not a crack in the cement.  I thank Keith for that strong foundation.

Move forward … Keith prepared my tiny lakefront stone slope.  It is beautiful and amazing.  Keith did all of the excavating on my tiny lot.   I am very happy with everything he did for my new little house. Keith doesn’t ever cut corners on a job.  He is professional and works to create the best landscaping possible.  He is kind and knowledgeable in everything he does.  He can be counted on to do more than he promises. 

Keith is an amazing person.  His work ethic is a model.  His business practices are fair.  He delivers a superior service at a very fair price.

Just for the record, Ray Zok recommended Keith.  Keith recommended Dean Duschene to build my house.  Dean brought Jon Seaberg and Kyle Lade on the project.  I feel like I am surrounded by the best of the best….and I am so thankful.
